Granby High School Announces New Football Coach

NPS Welcomes Coach Larry Archie as the New Head Football Coach for Granby High School.

Coach Archie’s resume highlights are as follows: Coach Larry Archie spent the previous 13 Seasons 2006-2019 as the head football coach at I.C. Norcom High School. This was a second tour at Norcom for Archie, who followed Legendary Norcom Coach Joe Lansgston from 2001 -2002.

Archie is a native of Norfolk and attended Norfolk Catholic High School, where he lettered in football and track, he excelled in football under Coach John O’Hara and was named All-Conference and All-State Defensive Back and Wide Receiver as a Junior and Senior. Archie accepted a Football Scholarship to Hampton University; where he played Wide Receiver for four years and was a member of the 1985 CIAA Championship Team. Football has been an instrumental part of his life; growing up as the son of a coach, he began playing in Norfolk at eight years old, and has not missed a season playing or coaching since.

His coaching career started at his Alma Mater, Hampton University, and continued over the next fifteen seasons at the collegiate level with stops at Virginia Union University, Bowie State, and Norfolk State. He also coached and played in Milan, Italy for a season and credits football with allowing him to see the world and develop lasting professional and personal relationships. Archie moved to the high school coaching ranks as an assistant at Lake Taylor before accepting the head job at Norcom.
