The Keep Kids Fed Act (H.R. 8150)

As a public school advocate, I ask for your support in joining me in a request to members of Congress to extend the authority to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to grant school meal waivers through the 2022-23 school year. The extension of this authority to the USDA will help school food authorities (SFAs) manage a number of challenges impacting the delivery of child nutrition services that were caused by COVID-19. The Keep Kids Fed Act (H.R. 8150) will help ensure that USDA and our district have continued flexibility to respond to the residual impacts of the pandemic and to ensure that the federal child nutrition programs continue to operate and provide healthy meals and snacks to students.
The new Keep Kids Fed Act (H.R. 8150) is a bipartisan, bicameral agreement that is great for students and needed by our public schools. I strongly urge Congress to pass this important legislation now as the current authority for the USDA to issue waivers is set to expire on June 30, 2022.
